Guppies.

My sister and I have a hobby of breeding guppies together. It's fun, easy, and rewarding! (Not financially, sadly enough.) Here are some pictures of the fish we've raised.

All are males and most have the same father and different mothers. The fish with big, blueish/greenish tails are from our deltatail moms; the ones with orange tails come from our orange female. Also, the ones with spots of green, red, and orange on their bodies came from our lyretail dad, which has those identical markings. Oh, and the ones with heart shaped tails are also part lyretail. The others? I have no idea. ;D They get all mixed up. ;)

Baby finch pictures...

Here are some baby finch pictures. :) As you can see, their eyes are starting to open!!

Excuse the poor quality....it's really hard to get light into a tiny finch nest!!

Some various events....

All of our finches did hatch out...I guess we have about 8 or 9. One chick hatched prematurely and died....but the others are all healthy, growing, and getting cuter. :D I'll have to get some pics. Poor mom and dad are going crazy trying to eat enough to feed themselves and the babies!! I'm looking forward to see their colors. I'm sure we'll get some fawns and pies...but who knows what the others will be!! Since not all of the chicks are Jimmy's and Jaimme's they'll probably be different. ;)

Also, we took Pepper on our last camping trip and I got some pics of her swimming and chasing splashes. (It's an obsession of hers. ) I think that we neglected to take pics of Dusty though!! Yikes! Oh well...

Dusty is getting BIG! He's 11 and a1/2 lbs now. Big boy, huh?! And his adult coat is coming in, so he looks a bit funny right now. He has a lot of longer, courser hairs sticking out of the rest of his coat. He's going to be beautiful! I can't wait to see him in adult coat. :) Especially since he's eating SARF, which, BTW, is going great with him! He loves it and can handle chicken leg and thigh bones now!

Training is going OK for him too....he's learning that "come" means "come to me NOW!" He tends to want to do his "cracker puppy" (where he runs around the yard like a crazy dog) act. Sadly for him, I'm quicker than he is and can tend to grab a leg or tail as he goes zooming past. ;D I need to get a video of him doing his cracker puppy...it's cute. (And frustrating!) I also taught him how to roll over. He's too cute, really he is! Now I want another puppy. ;D Dusty's almost not a puppy anymore...he was 5 mo today. In about 3-5 months he'll be adult. (sniff sniff) Or, well, almost adult. Small breed dogs mature faster than big breed dogs.

Dusty got groomed today...

Today, mom and I gave Dusty his first all-over hair cut. It doesn't look too bad, considering that neither one of us is trained. I've shaved down a few poodles, but that's it!! So I think we did OK. :) Of course, I see all the mistakes...but I won't go into those. ;D

Is that the cat down there?! I love kitty-kitty. ;D (Sadly, kitty-kitty isn't fond of puppy-dog. ;D)

Good news!!

Today, three finch chicks hatched! They are sooo ugly and tiny. Of course, I got some pictures for y'all to see. ;D

I told you they were ugly. You won't believe the change in about 2 wks.....


Also, Patsy got a very ugly tick on her back....for some reason, the bite caused an abscess. I'm treating it with Epsom salts soaks. Hopefully that'll dry it up fast. :)

RUN!

Patsy, my hound mix, loves to run. So I take her out in my neighborhood and allow her to run beside my car. She gets excited enough about it to race me. I let her out of the car and she takes off to try to get an advantage; when I catch up, she tries other tactics, like taking shortcuts through woods, to get in front of me. I'm tempted to see if there are any dog racing clubs or something like that in my area. She could easily keep up with most dogs; I clocked her today going 30 mph. (That was when she was trying to beat me. ;)) Granted, that speed only lasts for about 10 seconds, but if I keep conditioning her she will probably be able to hold it for longer. She goes 20 easily and for very long periods of time; I run her at that for about 2 miles.

Note all the greenery...we've been getting a looot of rain here for the past 3 wks or so. In fact, it's raining now!!
